Research & Development

Sensdata specialises in bespoke applied research and development specialising in novel data capture of time differential phenomena.

We offer a technical report writing service, i.e. formal presentation of technical data, rational and recommendations.

Furthermore, we offer a service to structure and present ideas or concepts in a formal document for peer review i.e. Funding proposals or grant applications.

Applied Research Portfolio

LV Fuse Test Facility
Developed for Sheffield Hallam University, Faculty of Engineering, the brief of this project was to develop a facility to enable the extraction of data representative of fuse voltage and current and light emitted by a fuse during the course of clearing fault current by the fuse. Voltage and current generating equipment comprised an ac induction motor driving separate dc and ac generator sets, which could supply fault current to a sample fuse via accurate controlled switching of power electronic devices.

Fast Video Camera
Also developed for the Faculty of Engineering located at Sheffield Hallam University, a high-speed camera was constructed to capture images of a fuse during the process of melting. For the high levels of fault current expected in use, the time period of fuse operation was expected to be nominally, one thousandth of a second. Using a CCD array the camera was designed with a frame speed of 64000 frames per second.
